Lalakhal,which is another top tourist attraction in Jaintapur Upazilla, is covered with hills, natural forests, tea gardens, and rivers under the Jainta Hill which comprises part of the Meghalaya Ranges of India. Flowing from the Indian part, the river Myntdu enters Lalakhal as the Saree and meets the river Guaiyan after passing Sarighat. Over a stretch of nearly 12 km of the river from Lalakhal to Sarighat, the colour of the water stays transparent green in winter (as well as in other seasons when it does not rain) due to the minerals flowing with water and the sandy river bed.
At the eastern bank of river Saree, there is the ‘Lalakhal Tea Garden’.
Tourists usually travel to Sarighat, which is 42 km away from Sylhet city centre, by road and then hire a boat to reach Lalakhal. The one-and-a-quarter hour (mechanised-) boat ride over this crystal green water with lush green hills on both sides of the river is a soothing sight for any nature lovers.
There is a boat station in Sarighat operated by Nazimgarh Resort. Different types of mechanised boats can be hired from there to travel to Lalakhal.
A tourist can experience green water river, Range of mountain and Tea Garden- at once in Lalakhal.
মেঘালয় পর্বত শ্রেনীর সবচেয়ে পুর্বের অংশ জৈন্তিয়া হিলসের ঠিক নীচে পাহাড়, প্রাকৃতিক বন, চা বাগান ও নদীঘেরা একটি গ্রাম লালাখাল, সিলেট জেলার জৈন্তিয়াপুর উপজেলায়। জৈন্তিয়া হিলসের ভারতীয় অংশ থেকে মাইন্ডু ( Myntdu) নদী লালাখালের সীমান্তের কাছেই সারী নদী নামে প্রবেশ করেছে এবং ভাটির দিকে সারীঘাট পেরিয়ে গোয়াইন নদীর সাথে মিশেছে। লালাখাল থেকে সারীঘাট পর্যন্ত নদীর বারো কিমি পানির রঙ পান্না সবুজ- পুরো শীতকাল এবং অন্যান্য সময় বৃষ্টি না হলে এই রঙ থাকে। মুলতঃ জৈন্তিয়া পাহাড় থেকে আসা প্রবাহমান পানির সাথে মিশে থাকা খনিজ এবং কাদার পরিবর্তে নদীর বালুময় তলদেশের কারনেই এই নদীর পানির রঙ এরকম দেখায়।
সিলেট জাফলং মহাসড়কে শহর থেকে প্রায় ৪২ কিমি দূরে সারীঘাট। সারীঘাট থেকে সাধারনতঃ নৌকা নিয়ে পর্যটকরা লালাখাল যান। স্থানীয় ইঞ্জিনচালিত নৌকায় একঘন্টা পনেরো মিনিটের মতো সময় লাগে সারী নদীর উৎসমুখ পর্যন্ত যেতে। নদীর পানির পান্না সবুজ রঙ আর দুইপাশের পাহাড় সারির ছায়া- পর্যটকদের মুগ্ধ করে। উৎসমুখের কাছাকাছিই রয়েছে লালাখাল চা বাগান।
রিভারকুইন রেস্টুরেন্টের পাশেই রয়েছে ‘এডভেঞ্চার টেন্ট ক্যাম্প ‘ । এডভেঞ্চার প্রিয় পর্যটকরা এখানে রাত্রিযাপন করতে পারেন। নদীপেরিয়ে লালাখাল চা বাগানের ভেতর দিয়ে রয়েছে প্রাকৃতিকভাবে গড়ে উঠা হাঁটার পথ ( ট্রেকিং ট্রেইল)
