Bhutan Trip -Travel Vlog | Hanging Bridge | thimphu to dochula pass | Punakha Dzong | wishing bell

Dochula pass:
The most beautiful place in Bhutan "Dochula Pass" is located on the way to Punakha from Thimphu
The pass is popular for tourists for its ideal location from where one can enjoy 360 degree of beautiful panoramic view of Himalaya mountain range, especially on clear winter days. The beauty of this place is further enhanced by the Druk Wangyal Chortens-108 stupa built by the eldest Queen Mother Her Majesty Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk. The pass is also popular spiritual place for both locals and tourists because of an important temple that is located on the crest of Dochula pass.
Dochula Pass, from Thimphu to Punakha all vehicles needs to pass thru here. Tour guide Tshering was saying today was the good occasion for the Bhutanese to chant round the chorten.

The Punakha Suspension Bridge is located very much near to the Punakha Dzong and is the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan built above the Po Chu river. The bridge is broad and built in a very nice way and you will be amazed to see that it doesn’t shake so much which can cause a sudden amount of panic among the tourists. The bridge also connects to the nearby villages. There are mountains surrounding the bridge from all the sides which also gives a breathtaking view.

Wishing bell story

Once upon a time a young widow lived in the castle of Bled. Robbers had killed her husband and dumped his body into the lake. She was very sad and depressed and she vas visiting the island in the Bled lake daily and prayed in the chapel. One day she gathered all her gold to commission a bell for the chapel. During the transport of the bell there was a huge storm which sank the boat and the bell along with the boatmen. In the clear nights you can still hear the bell ringing from the deep waters of the lake. After this tragic accident the widow sold her fortune and had a new church built on the island. After that she left for Rome and she took her vows. She died many years later and the Pope blessed another bell, made and set to the island by Franziskus Patavinus in the year 1534. It is to this blessing that a wish will be granted to anyone who rings the bell.
